Losse flodders

* Musicus, blogger en Creative Commons-specialist Marco Raaphorst heeft een live-opname van zijn oude band MAM online gezet: MAM Live – LVC Leiden, 1985.

Raaphorst via Twitter, nadat ik hem vroeg of het niet tijd wordt voor een mooi boxje met geremasterde CD’s van MAM: “Misschien wel een idee. moet ik eens met Tom [America] over hebben, is nu druk met iets anders. en er is een live idee… uhm”.

* Een jaartje geleden werd Gorowski’s Electric Hands – van WM Recordings-release WM042 – gebruikt in een korte film. Die film wordt nu commercieel uitgebracht (dvd, tv, web). Vandaag gaat het ondertekende contract op de post en dus is de eerste betaalde licentie-deal voor mijn label een feit.

* Ik heb m’n workstation nog geen week in huis en ik heb nog maar één nieuw (aanzetje tot een) nummer online gezet, maar m’n “ditty” van een paar dagen geleden is nu al geremixed! Geert Haen verraste me met zijn “Weirdo’s Ditty” remix. Ook te vinden op z’n MySpace.

Invertebrata is an experimental/avantgarde project by Belgian musician Bert Vanden Berghe, and one of his more quirky outings besides brunk. Invertebrata’s music is mainly based on free improvisations on randomly detuned and often prepared (mostly acoustic) guitars, combined with other instruments/objects and environemental sounds.

This is the 4th invertebrata album since 1999. Detuned acoustic guitars, an acoustic bass guitar, a plastic water bottle, bowed strings, some voice, a little black truck called Tonka, a small toy recorder and other (whether or not accidentally) recorded sounds, and no traditional song structure in sight…

Geen ‘heksenjacht’ op downloaders

De Nederlandse platenbranche belooft coulance bij de aanpak van downloaders nadat een rechter deze week het downloaden van auteursrechtelijk beschermd werk illegaal verklaarde.

Rechter verklaart downloaden toch illegaal

Een rechter heeft de Nederlandse uitzondering voor het downloaden van illegaal gekopieerd materiaal teruggedraaid.

“De door de minister voorgestane en door de regering onderschreven uitleg, waarbij ervan wordt uitgegaan dat een privé-kopie van een illegale bron legaal is, is in strijd met [de wetgeving],” concludeerde de Haagse rechtbank op woensdag in zijn uitspraak in een bodemprocedure van de branchevereniging STOBI tegen de Stichting Orgaan Thuiskopievergoeding (SONT).

Met die uitspraak komt er een abrupt eind aan de unieke Nederlandse situatie waarbij het downloaden van auteursrechtelijk materiaal door de vingers wordt gezien, en alleen het uploaden van bestanden als illegaal wordt beschouwd. Volgens de rechter geldt dat als de bron illegaal is, datzelfde ook geldt voor elke kopie daarvan.

Toenmalig minister van Justitie Donner heeft deze regel in 2006 mede opgesteld omdat het onmogelijk was om te controleren of een consument bijvoorbeeld de cd bezat van een nummer dat hij via een peer-to-peer-dienst downloadde.

Nieuw op WM Recordings

Begin april verscheen er voor het eerst een album van brunk op WM Recordings. Vandaag is daar een tweede release bijgekomen: none of the above.

‘none of the above‘, the follow-up to ‘ sept 2003 ‘, is a further exploration of the melancholic and more accessible side of brunk. It has a quiet vibe and mostly slow songs. Once again these songs are made of overdubbed and edited layers of cut-and-pasted guitars, softwaresynths, samples, beats etc; with at the same time lots of improvised elements and spontanuous aspects, uncorrected imperfections and a perhaps slightly naieve ‘homerecording lo-fi’ touch.
